Diwali time...- Infinite happiness!

Here's wishing everyone a happy and safe Diwali 2011.. :) :)

For those who do not know what it means, Diwali- the festival of lights- is a common Indian festival marking the triumph of good over evil. It has been a part of the Indian culture for so many years. Indians across the globe celebrate this festival with joy.

It all starts a month before the actual Diwali day. People start buying new clothes, they buy sweets; they enjoy, rather than 'celebrate' this festival of lights. People of all ages enjoy this festival. Of course, the main convention during Diwali is bursting crackers and I mean, hell lot of fireworks.. As mentioned before, this has been running through the generations for so many decades now.

Diwali time! Infinite happiness!
Me? I've been celebrating it for 16 years. But, the one thing I think has changed, is that, lately,  some of the people have stopped bursting crackers. Even though some think that Diwali without crackers is "out-of-our-culture" I say, it is the better choice. As my friend's dad put it, "If you want to see your money bursting into flames(in the sky), you may want to buy fireworks".

Not just that, the gases released are harmful to everyone; It's harmful to the earth. Even though there have been some movements against busting crackers, it is impossible to think that it would change the minds of everybody.

So let's all hold hands; Let's try not to harm our planet. Let's hope for a change and we will bring one..

Photography enthusiasts:

Like I said, it's impossible to change everyone's mind. So if they're gonna burst 'em, we can make beautiful photos. There's absolutely no harm in photographing the display of fireworks.

To everyone, once again, a Happy Diwali 2011!

  1. Nice one :)
You say there is no harm in photographing fireworks. But, for that someone gotta burst no? :-D If you ask me, it's no harm. It's just a day. It'd cause less damage than all the gases released from automobiles, cigarettes, air conditioners etc.. :) Crackers are atleast fun \m/
